KNIGHT

A Chess Knight tries to maintain material balance, ready to recapture lost pieces, but often falls prey to double attacks. A Knight can confidently checkmate K+Q or K+R against K, is starting to use combinations, and has some concept of positional play.

Fool's Mate
demonstrate 1. f4 e6 2. g4 Qh4#
Scholar's Mate
demonstrate 1. e4 e5 2. Bc4 Bc5 3. Qh5 Nf6 4. Qxf7# and variations on that theme.
Combinations I
teach various (at least 10) simple combinations involving forks, pins, and skewers to win material. First, demonstrate a theme, then set up a similar position for the player to find.
Mate with RR
teach technique for checkmating with two rooks.
Mate with R
teach technique for checkmating with one rook.
Mate with Q
teach technique for checkmating with queen.
Open/Semi-Open Files
define open and semi-open files, demonstrating the natural paths created for rooks.
Doubled Rooks
demonstrate the power of doubled rooks in files and on the seventh rank.
Mate in One
mate in one quizzes (at least 20) from Polgar's big CHESS book.
Greco
go over six Greco games
Promotion Game
Win a game from a higher-rated player getting Knight odds.
Requirements continue to evolve and may therefore change at any time. Substitutions may be granted in some cases to award particularly strong play.
